The British section of the AES held its 20th conference on 31 March and 1 April 2005. For the first time, it left London, to become a residential conference in Cambridge. The subject, Convergence, proved extremely popular, and the event was packed. The conference finished with a candlelit dinner at Magdelene College. I also have pictures of the experimental Audio Technical Education Day on the following day.
So far, I only have some pictures here from the second day, and the dinner. Some more will follow shortly.
The British section of the AES held its first Audio Technical Education Day in Cambridge on 2 April 2005. The event consisted of a variety of informative talks and demonstrations throughout the day, aimed at people with a general interest in audio and Hi-Fi, as well as professionals. It was very popular, selling out well in advance. I also have pictures from the conference on Convergence that immediately preceded the day.
In preparaton for our wedding, Sophie and I, with other intrepid tasters, evaluated six candidate champagnes. Of course, we used proper blind testing techniques. The results were very clear: whichever of the three means we used to evaluate the survey results showed that two champagnes were head and shoulders above the rest.
